Exciting event provides charity with much needed funds

A cabaret show featuring an array of exciting acts has raised more than £700.00 for a vital community transport charity.

West Norwich Lions organised the event, which was held at the Hellesdon Community Centre on Saturday, October  17, and attended by more than 80 people. Money raised will now go Norwich Door to Door.

Ernie Parsons, spokesman for the West Norwich Lions, said: “It was a really exciting show and everybody had a really good time. Acts included a ballet group, a ukulele group and the Norwich Sea Scouts; there really was something for everyone. We are delighted to have raised such a high amount of money for a very special organisation.”

Norwich Door to Door provides a city wide dial-a-ride service for adults and children with severe mobility problems.

Danny Douglas Chief Executive of Norwich Door to Door said, “The afternoon raised a fantastic £721.41 which will go towards helping to fund passenger journeys in the coming months. As the winter weather sets in and it becomes unsteady underfoot, a door to door service is even more crucial to ensure their passengers get to their destination safely”.

Norwich Door to Door is hoping to put on some special trips over the Christmas period for their passengers such as visits to the city to see the lights, a trip to the panto and somewhere for a Christmas meal. However, more volunteer drivers and assistants are need to be able to provide these trips.

Full training will be given to the volunteers. Anybody interested in finding out more can ring Kate Fox on 01603 776 735 or email [email protected]
