Changes at North Norfolk Community Transport

23rd April 2017

North Norfolk Community Transport will be having a new Chief Executive as Matt Townsend departs to take over Norwich social enterprise Leap. Matt will be replaced by Claire Abbs, who joins from Norfolk Community Health & Care NHS Trust and previously worked with the disabled people’s organisation, Equal Lives.

Matt joined NNCT in August 2014 and has overseen major growth in the organisation which provides Dial a Ride, school tranpsort and adult social services transport using a fleet of minibuses. The organisation now employs over thirty staff and has a turnover in excess of half a million pounds a year, with bases in North Waltham and Holt. He also oversaw the relocation to North Walsham industrial estate from the council offices to make way for Wetherspoons.

Claire has been recruited by NNCT's board of trustees and brings with her considerable experience from both the charity and public sectors, including developing new business and funding opportunities at Equal Lives and leading the work to develop a greater role for volunteering in delivery of care, at NCH&C. Claire will start at NNCT at the end of May.

“I am really looking forward to starting in this role. I will inherit an excellent team and am excited about continuing to develop our work and supporting even more people across North Norfolk going forward”.

Matt will be taking over as Chief Executive at Leap, a social enterprise in Norwich. 'I have thoroughly enjoyed working in North Norfolk, it's a great part of the country with many amazing people. NNCT is a charity which provides an excellent service and I am very pleased we have found Claire to take over the running of the organisation. We have an excellent staff team, volunteers and passengers and we have a great partnership with Norfolk County Council, Victory Housing Trust and North Norfolk District Council.'
